Hi,
People almost always want a quick fix to their marketing. Like a "Fix It Now Button" that helps them instantly change things so they can immediately start getting results and clients from their marketing.
Guess what...it doesn't work that way...
That's not to say getting your marketing "basics" in place has to drag on forever, simply that if you're going to get results, you MUST invest some time.
Today's feature newsletter article will give you a framework of 5 key elements you want to focus on to create an effective marketing system that keeps you off the "feast or famine" roller coaster.
Get these implemented first and THEN you can start to look at additional online marketing strategies to make your business grow.
Whenever I start working with a new client, I immediately look for 5 key elements in their online
marketing approach:
- Website
- Lead Magnet
- Sign up process for the Lead Magnet
- Welcome/Nurturing Email Campaign
- Email Marketing List
Each element plays a specific role. Together, they all make up a fundamental online marketing system that gets results.
Review the list below to see how your
online marketing measures up.
YOUR MARKETING "BASICS" SCORECARD
Website:
- Glitches happen. It's important to make sure your website is working. From time to time, test the links on your pages.
- How clearly does your main
message communicate the VALUE you offer? Not the "stuff" you sell. Why should a prospect consider your solution?
- Are each of your web pages optimized? Do they have SEO titles and descriptions? This increases the chance that your website will appear in online search results.
- Is it obvious how web visitors can contact you?
- Do you have a physical address
associated with your website to enhance your credibility?
Lead Magnet
- You need to offer a lead magnet. A lead magnet is a free offer (report, checklist) that entices people to give you their email address in exchange for some valuable information that helps them solve a problem.
- Is your lead magnet helpful and related to the services or product you offer?
- Is your lead magnet part of an automated email marketing system where, once someone registers to get your lead magnet by giving you their email address, their name automatically gets entered on a list that you control?
Lead
Magnet Sign Up Page
- Is your lead magnet offer clearly displayed on your home page and other relevant pages? Is it clear how a visitor signs up?
- Does the signup process work? Make it a point to regularly test that the lead magnet gets delivered to people who sign up and that their names are automatically added to your email list.
- Do you
also use an exclusive page on your website to sign up for your the lead magnet? The only thing someone should see when they go to this page is information about the lead magnet and a way to sign up to receive it. No other links or tabs should be visible that could potentially distract your prospect.
Blog:
- Blogging regularly is a great way to attract new prospects.
- Your blog post titles should tell someone what to expect if they read the post.
- Each post should summarize the main content and have some sort of call-to-action. Be sure to include a call-to-action that tells your readers what to do after they finish reading the post.
Email Marketing List:
- Are you using an email system like Aweber, Mail Chimp or Infusionsoft? The email you're reading today was sent via Aweber which I have used for years.
- Do you email your list regularly?
- Try to keep your emails to your list about 80%
education, 20% soft sell.
- Promote a service or product to your list about once a month.
Review YOUR current online marketing system. Use this checklist to identify gaps in your basic system so you can get the basics in place before you start creating
additional online marketing strategies.
