After helping countless business owners refine their marketing, I’ve noticed the same recurring mistakes popping up again and again.
Fix these, and your offers instantly become INSTANTLY more attractive, more credible, and far easier for prospects to say “yes” to.
Mistake #1: They Sell the Features, Not the Transformation
I see this a lot! Entrepreneurs often describe what their
product does instead of what changes after the customer uses it.
People don’t buy the treadmill. They buy the promise of fitting into their old jeans.
Broken record
time...
Your prospect wants you to answer one question:
“How does this make my life better?”
Make
your offer irresistible: Lead with the outcome. Paint the “after” picture so clearly they can feel it.
Mistake #2: Their Offer Feels Like a Commodity
Most offers sound exactly the same as everyone else’s:
- Free consults
- Coaching calls
- Templates
- Access to a
community
- A step-by-step process
None of this helps you stand out.
Make your offer irresistible: Create mechanisms...your unique process, framework, or philosophy that positions your offer as the only one that works “this way".
I never send out a Proposal to a prospective client. Instead, I send them my "Go-Forward Thoughts" that includes the strategy and value they'll get if they decide to work with me.
Your mechanism is
what makes your offer un-copyable.
Mistake #3: They Don’t De-Risk the Decision
Many entrepreneurs assume people won’t buy because of price.
WRONGO.
Most people won’t buy because of risk - the fear of making a mistake.
Can't tell you how many times I work with clients who have been burned before by the charlatans and pretenders.
If your offer doesn’t clearly answer...“What happens if this doesn’t work for me?”…you’re losing sales.
Make your offer irresistible: Add strong risk reversals - guarantees, trials, milestones, progress checks, or performance-based promises.
Mistake #4: They Make Prospects
Work Too Hard to Understand It
I see this far too often. It's almost always a self-inflicted NO.
If your prospect can’t understand your offer in 10 seconds, they won’t buy it in 10 minutes.
Entrepreneurs often pack in every detail without explaining the simple core promise.
Make your offer irresistible: Give your offer a concise, memorable, one-sentence promise.
Think:
In 28 days, you’ll have a simple, proven website marketing system that converts qualified prospects into clients.”
Short. Punchy.
Clear.
Mistake #5: They Don’t Stack Value
A lot of entrepreneurs present their offer as one big thing - one program, one product, one service.
But psychologically, customers buy COMPLETENESS. We
all do this. They want to feel like they’re getting everything they need to succeed.
I can still remember excitedly sliding a battery-operated Christmas present under the tree for one of our children only to find out it did not come with batteries. Never made that mistake again!
Make your offer irresistible: Break down your offer into components - modules, bonuses, tools, templates, access, support — and assign each piece its own clear value.
When presented together, the perceived value
multiplies.
Mistake #6: They Forget Scarcity & Urgency
Even people who want what you’re selling will procrastinate!
Entrepreneurs often avoid adding scarcity because they think it feels “salesy.”
But urgency isn’t about pressure - it’s about helping people make a decision instead of delaying their goals.
Make your offer irresistible: Add ethical scarcity — limited seats,
limited bonuses, deadlines, or price increases. Give people a REAL reason to act now.
Why not see how your offers stack up?
An irresistible offer is one that:
- Solves a painful,
urgent problem
- Shows a clear, desirable transformation
- Feels unique and non-commoditized
- Removes all the risk
- Stacks value in multiple layers
- Has a compelling reason to act now
When you combine these elements, you don’t have to “sell.”
Your offer becomes the obvious choice!
